The Role
The Commercial Manager will work within the Transport for Wales (TfW) Commercial Directorate and have a key role in ensuring the successful management of various commercial projects.
Role responsibilities
- Monitor for and mitigate breaches of governance by adhering to the TfW procurement and internal change control procedures, in conjunction with the Programme and Project teams to ensure TfW is operating in compliance with regulations.
- Manage cost reporting of allocated projects within the TfW reporting framework by undertaking cost forecasting to report anticipated final cost, cost of work done, gross billing and current contract value.
- Monitor, manage and report on commercial aspects of allocated projects by raising issues and risks, proposing mitigation actions at the earliest opportunity to the relevant person to ensure projects are delivered to time, cost and quality.
- Review contractor delivery by leading valuation of medium value/medium risk contracts and attending progress meetings to actively influence contractors' commercial behaviours, delivery and activity.
Who we're looking for
- A degree in a relevant field such as finance, quantity surveying, engineering or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience of managing infrastructure or construction projects from a commercial perspective.
- Knowledge of multi-disciplinary projects, with experience of forecasting and managing a budget.
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact upon the contract and commercial function.
Welsh Language Skills
While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application.
