About us

We were set up by the Welsh Government to change the way Wales travels. We're making sustainable transport the natural choice, helping to combat the climate emergency. It's a big job. We want to inspire people to change their behaviour, doing their bit for all our futures by travelling in ways that are kinder to our planet.

To do this, we’re building a multimodal, integrated transport network that includes trains, buses, walking and cycling.

Why join us?

There’s a lot to be done if we’re going to transform the way an entire nation travels. So it’s vital that everyone at TfW is clear: why we do what we do, where we’re heading and how we need to act to get there.

This is where our vision, mission, purpose and values come in. These aren’t empty words that get hung on a meeting room wall. They’re for all of us to use as we go about our work every day. We’re all responsible for delivering them.

  • Vision
Our ambition, the thing we're working towards every single day: To be Wales’ favourite way to travel.
  • Mission
One network. One timetable. One ticket. One team.
  • Purpose
This is why we exist. What we do and why we do it: We help people travel in ways that are good for the planet, good for the pocket and good for real life.
  • Values
Our values are how we go about everything we do.

We're safe, sustainable, cost-effective and convenient. And that's why our decisions always focus on these four things. People's experience is central to all we do and this is how we make sure it's always as positive as possible. Even in challenging situations.

We're not just here for today, we're also firmly focused on the future. That means finding better ways to do things as we go. We encourage one another to perform at our best and improve, continually.

One network, one timetable, one ticket, one team. Across all we do, we share a single goal: to positively transform travel, however someone chooses to make their journey.

Our commitment to the Welsh language

At TfW, we’re intrinsically Welsh – and proudly so.

We’re upgrading our network to ensure our customers see and hear Cymraeg and English everywhere. We want it to be a central part of people’s experience when they travel with us, whether that’s on the daily commutes, trips to the beach or to see Wales play rugby (or football).

We warmly welcome Welsh speakers and champion the use of Welsh in our workplace. Some of our roles require Welsh language skills. If you want to learn Welsh or improve your skills, we’ll support you.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

We’re changing the way the transport industry looks. By celebrating and embracing our differences, we’re building a workforce that represents Wales.

We need talented people from all backgrounds and cultures to bring their perspectives and experiences. Diverse teams make better decisions and drive innovation. Help us change the way a nation travels.

We work with several unions that represent our sector and have a nominated trades union representative on our Board of Directors.

We work in partnership with the following unions:
