The Role
The Senior Landscape Architect will be responsible for designing and delivering a range of landscape design and active travel infrastructure projects, working as part of a national multi-disciplinary team, in order to enhance the daily experience of the public realm for people choosing to walk, wheel, and cycle on everyday trips in Wales.
Role responsibilities
- Creating and developing imaginative, landscape design proposals by drafting concept and detailed designs that are responsive to the local landscape character and context with reference to relevant design guidance, legislation and frameworks to enable and inspire people to travel actively and sustainably
- Develop and refine design proposals by engaging with local communities and collaborating with partners, and stakeholders to address diverse needs and aspirations whilst also meeting scheme objectives
- Contribute to the development and refinement of policies and design guidance including planning policies and the Active Travel Act Guidance by gathering, sharing and applying best practice from projects across the TfW team and local authority partners to improve the quality, cost and experience of using active travel infrastructure in Wales.
- Promote and advocate for high quality landscape design by providing advice and guidance both internally and externally to create environments that inspire people to travel actively and sustainably
Who we're looking for
- Degree or post-graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture/Design or associated discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver landscape/urban design projects in the public realm.
- Experience of using design software including digital graphics / drawing packages such as Adobe Creative Cloud and AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
- A personal commitment to delivering high quality walking, wheeling and cycling infrastructure at pace and scale for Wales.
Welsh Language Skills
While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application.
