The Role

Manages the delivery of infrastructure projects for Transport for Wales, promoting stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement to ensure projects are delivered safely, within programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

 

Role responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and CDM 2015 requirements by identifying project obligations, promoting safe working practices and supporting adherence to relevant legislation, standards and governance requirements.
  • Promote the sharing of best practice across projects, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and maximise value for money.
  • Undertake the role of NEC Project Manager, administering contracts in accordance with delegated authority and organisational governance requirements.
  • Deliver projects to agreed programme and cost baselines and within governance requirements, monitoring progress against key milestones and providing timely updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead project risk management activities, identifying, assessing and mitigating financial, programme delivery, reputational, quality, environmental, health and safety risks, including facilitating risk review and contract risk reduction meetings.
  • Manage the commercial aspects of projects through raising issues and risks, implementing change control where necessary within the governance framework and managing compensation events to deliver the projects to cost, programme and achieve the best value for money.
  • Apply project lifecycle frameworks and governance processes, ensuring all project deliverables are produced and approved in line with the relevant project stage requirements.
  • Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, coordinating engagement activities and facilitating meetings to support project objectives and successful delivery.
  • Support the delivery of environmental and sustainability objectives, ensuring project activities comply with relevant environmental requirements, consents and organisational commitments.
  • Manage procurement and supplier engagement activities, supporting the successful appointment and performance of delivery partners in line with procurement and governance requirements.

Who we're looking for

  • Possesses a relevant qualification and/or professional accreditation  (e.g. degree, APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, MAPM or equivalent), demonstrating professional competence in project delivery.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience across the project lifecycle, managing projects with multiple disciplines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and effective application of health, safety, environmental & Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015.
  • Experience of developing and managing project budgets, including forecasting, cost control and monitoring expenditure.
  • Effectively communicates project information to stakeholders, tailoring messages to different audiences and levels of seniority.
  • Experience of fostering cross-team collaboration and developing effective stakeholder networks.
  • Experience of NEC contracts across the project lifecycle, applying collaborative behaviours, proactive risk management and contract administration to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Experience managing project programmes and schedules within a complex environment, including schedule risk management and recovery planning.

While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application.
