The Role

The D365 Finance & Operations Solution Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and assuring end‑to‑end Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O solutions and interfacing integrations that meet business, functional, technical, and non‑functional requirements. The role provides architectural leadership across finance, supply chain, and operational domains, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to Microsoft best practice and organisational strategy and ensures successful implementation and ongoing optimisation of TfW's finance and operational systems.

The Solution Architect acts as a bridge between business stakeholders, functional consultants, technical teams, and external partners, owning the overall solution design from concept through delivery and into live service.

 

Role responsibilities

  • Define, produce and maintain solution architecture documentation, including: architecture artefacts, High-level and detailed design documents integration and data architecture diagrams to ensure system meets the Microsoft best practise implementation and system management.
  • Challenge requirements and designs to minimise customisation and maximise out‑of‑the‑box capabilities and ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and audit requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties)
  • Co-Develop and own the multi-year D365 Finance & Operations (F&O) roadmap by continuously evaluating new features and emerging technologies to ensure the ERP platform delivers ongoing innovation and business value.
  • Serve as the final design authority by reviewing and approving architectural and design decisions for all D365 F&O initiatives by establishing and enforcing solution governance to guarantee scalability, security, integrations, non-functional requirements and alignment with enterprise architecture standards and assessing impacts on risk, cost, timelines and operational readiness.
  • Provide Programme & Delivery Support and architectural leadership across discovery, design, build, test and deployment by working with the programme teams and delivery partners to ensure adherence to agreed standards and designs.

 

Who we're looking for

  • Degree in business and/or technology solutions or equivalent professional experience
  • Knowledge of Lifecycle services (LCS) DevOps and environment management for D365
  • Proven experience as a D365 Finance & Operations Solution Architect on complex, enterprise-scale implementations including D365FO integrations ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Experience designing solutions with minimal customisation and strong governance

Welsh Language Skills

While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application.
