The Role
To undertake a variety of statistical and analytical tasks linked to publishing Wales National Travel Survey (WNTS) data and maintaining and updating the Wales Transport Strategy Monitoring Framework, both of which are commitments set out in the Wales Transport Strategy (WTS). This will include preparing statistical summaries and reports.
Role responsibilities
- Update data and written analysis for individual measures within the Wales Transport Strategy (WTS) Monitoring Framework, by applying current or new methodologies, to provide a published evidence base for monitoring the delivery and impact of WTS priorities and ambitions.
- Produce Wales National Travel Survey (WNTS) statistics, by using coding and programming skills such as R or Python, to deliver analytical outputs.
- Contribute to statistical output production, by performing statistical analysis, reviewing statistics, preparing reports and answering queries, to ensure reliable data is published.
- Support stakeholder engagement by presenting data and analysis logically and concisely in the most appropriate format, including data visualisation techniques, to summarise and present the results of data analysis to people with different levels of technical knowledge.
Who we're looking for
- Degree level qualification in a relevant numerate discipline, such as statistics, social research or psychology or equivalent experience working in a statistical or data science role.
- Demonstrable experience of applying mathematical and statistical techniques when working with and interrogating large datasets.
- Experience of programming languages such as R or Python for data analysis.
- Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
Welsh Language Skills
While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application.
