Role breakdown

Conductor/Train Manager

Our conductors will operate trains in a safe and timely manager and provide help, guidance and information to all customers.

Senior Conductor Manager

You’ll support the Conductor Performance Manager, in managing their area/objectives. In the competent discharge of safety responsibilities and the delivery of high standards of customer service, train presentation and train performance. The core role remains as that of a Conductor Manager but as the Senior Conductor Manager you will take upon additional tasks and responsibilities that enhance the leadership and management in your area.

Conductor Performance Manager

You’ll lead and develop a team of highly motivated Conductor Managers so that the highest standards of customer service, employee experience, revenue and train service performance and safety are achieved by the Train Manager team.

School Liaison Officer (Cambrian)

Our school Liaison Officers will ensure the safe and orderly conduct of students attending Harlech and Tywyn schools and Pwllheli college whilst travelling and using TFW services and stations during school term times. Assisting the Train Manager in all aspects regarding the safety of the train, dealing with customer enquiries, assisting with boarding, seating and overcrowding on the trains.

Depot Supervisor / Duty Depot Manager (DDM)

You’ll support the berthing, maintenance of presentation standards and preparedness of the units for the following days service. Ensure both the station and depot meet the standard set by TfW and provide support for the Conductor Manager and a supervisory presence for employees at the depot.

Interview/Assessment Day

You’ll meet with the hiring team and complete a competency-based interview face to face. Your assessment day may include an individual exercise/group exercise/role play depending on the role you’ve applied for. We’ll send you all the details in plenty of time!

Offer

If you’re successful, you’ll receive an update from the Recruitment team providing you with the offer details for the position!

Medical

Once you’ve accepted the offer, the Recruitment team will book you in for a face to face medical at one of our clinics in Chester or Cardiff.

Background checks

When your medical results are back, background checks will be completed. You’ll receive a link from our third-party supplier Pertemps who manage our checks.

Onboarding

After your background checks have been completed, the Recruitment team will send across your onboarding forms to complete, including your contract of employment.

The recruitment process can take up to 16 weeks.

On appointment into a role, you will be enrolled into the Trainee Conductor/ Train Manager course for 13 weeks classroom learning. Following this you will spend time on the job training, with an experienced member of the team. At the end of the training, you will be fully assessed in all aspects of the role by one of our experienced managers.

The first 13 weeks will be classroom training in either based out of St. Patricks House, Cardiff. Or One City Place, Chester.

You'll work a 35-hour week over 4 days per week. The role requires flexibility as you will be working early mornings, evenings, nights and weekends.
